Thiago Silva Set to Extend Stay at Chelsea Amid Managerial Approval and Squad Investments

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea Football Club have reached a full verbal agreement with veteran center-back Thiago Silva on a new contract, set to run until June 2024. The 38-year-old Brazilian has been a key player in the club’s backline, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the current season.

New Chelsea manager Graham Potter is said to have been impressed with Silva’s attitude and he is seen as a perfect role model as the club aims to build a team for the future. Despite being a regular in a Chelsea defense that has faced its share of challenges this season, Silva has consistently performed and has been a stabilizing presence.

Chelsea’s recent signing of Benoit Badiashile has added depth to the backline, and with the return of injured players such as Wesley Fofana, Reece James, and Ben Chilwell on the horizon, the club’s defense is looking stronger than ever.

Silva is reportedly enjoying life in London since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 and is keen to continue playing until he turns 40. His longevity and leadership will be valuable assets to Chelsea as they aim to climb up the Premier League table and secure their place among the top teams in English football.

Chelsea’s owner, Todd Boehly, has already spent £450 million on transfers since taking over the club last year, including well over £150 million this month, and shows no signs of slowing down. With investments such as Badiashile and Fofana, Boehly is hoping to help the club recover from a challenging season and secure a place among the top teams in the league.

The signing of Thiago Silva’s contract extension is expected to be completed soon and will be a welcome boost for Stamford Bridge. The veteran defender’s experience and leadership will be key in the club’s quest for success and stability.

England manager Gareth Southgate against France in the World Cup 2022 quarter-final Southgate has allowed a new generation of England fans to dream. His accomplishments should not be downplayed or ignored. But England can't quite get over the hill when it counts. As was evident last night, and Italy in the final of the Euros, England struggle to turn that firm grip on the game into chances and goals. Deschamps's men were not better than England's. They just had that vital 1 per cent that carried them through. Winners win football matches. England had a better xG. England (2.59) 1-2 (1.32) France. Sure 2 of the chance were penalties which boosted the xG for England, but then its the tiny margins that can decide a World Cup knockout game. Both sides were taking out their opponents strengths, but then their own strength was not coming into play. England were creating chances, but never ones you thought had to be goals. Kyle Walker was stuck blunting Mbappe, and the same was ...
