Nico Gonzalez: "At Barcelona, they teach us from a young age that the most effective thing is to play with one or two quick touches."

Nico Gonzalez left Barcelona on loan to join Valencia at the end of the summer transfer window. The defensive midfielder explained that he joined Valencia in order to play more regularly, as competition for places was ramped up in Catalonia in the summer with the arrival of Franck Kessie and Miralem Pjanic back from loan from Turkish side, Besiktas. Since then Miralem Pjanic has left Barcelona to UAE club Sharjah FC.
"At Barcelona, they teach us from a young age that the most effective thing is to play with one or two quick touches," said the young midfielder.
Nico, schooled in that fashion, should help new Valencia manager Gennaro Gattuso to implement his new style of football at Mestalla. He, along with Ilaix Moriba, who was a regular in the second half of last season(he's back at Valencia after being sent back to RB Leipzig), could turn out to form a solid midfield partnership.
