The starting lineups for Leeds United vs Chelsea

After their fiery 2-2 draw with rivals Tottenham, Chelsea are back on the road with a trip to Leeds United. The Blues will be hoping to return to winning ways during the clash to keep pace with league leaders Arsenal and Spurs.

Here's Chelsea's XI to face Leeds: Mendy; James, Thiago Silva, Koulibaly; Loftus-Cheek, Gallagher, Jorginho, Cucurella; Mount, Havertz, Sterling

According to Blue Footy Conor Gallagher makes sense against Leeds' intensity. 'If you are expecting us to be relaxed and Leeds to watch us and clap, that won't happen. They work from start to finish. Without Kante, Gallagher makes more sense in midfield than RLC, who should start at RWB.'

Ben Chilwell has been left out in place of new signing Marc Cucurella. Here's what he had to say about the competition in the left full-back role: "Obviously it’s going to be a battle between us but it’s a competitive battle that we’re both going to thrive off and help the team. It’s a similar thing that I’ve had my whole career, the same as anyone."

Leeds start off with Meslier; Kristensen, Koch, Llorente, Struijk; Marc Roca, Adams; Aaronson, Rodrigo, Harrison; James.

Both clubs having remained unbeaten from their opening two Premier League fixtures. Both clubs are also guilty of giving up leads in their last outings.

Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel will spend the game away from the dugout because of his heated exchange with Spurs coach Antonio Conte but he will want to see a goal from an attack-minded player at Elland Road with their strikes so far coming from the penalty spot, a corner and a smart finish from wing-back Reece James.

Jesse Marsch's team had been set to end the weekend as one of three teams with a 100% record until the Saints netted twice in the final 18 minutes of the contest at St Mary's.

England manager Gareth Southgate against France in the World Cup 2022 quarter-final Southgate has allowed a new generation of England fans to dream. His accomplishments should not be downplayed or ignored. But England can't quite get over the hill when it counts. As was evident last night, and Italy in the final of the Euros, England struggle to turn that firm grip on the game into chances and goals. Deschamps's men were not better than England's. They just had that vital 1 per cent that carried them through. Winners win football matches. England had a better xG. England (2.59) 1-2 (1.32) France. Sure 2 of the chance were penalties which boosted the xG for England, but then its the tiny margins that can decide a World Cup knockout game. Both sides were taking out their opponents strengths, but then their own strength was not coming into play. England were creating chances, but never ones you thought had to be goals. Kyle Walker was stuck blunting Mbappe, and the same was ...
