August 5 - On this day last year, the greatest player in the history of football, the legend Leo Messi, left FC Barcelona to join PSG.

Messi joined PSG as a free agent on Aug. 10, days after Barcelona announced they were unable to register the six-time Ballon d'Or winner's new contract because of financial constraints.

The club's financial woes meant a new Messi contract could not be ratified by LaLiga. His 22-year association with the Spanish giants then came to an end with PSG securing his services.

He joined PSG in a sensational free-transfer. He is supposed to stay in Paris until at least June 2023.
