Nico Gonzalez has renewed his contract with FC Barcelona until 2026 and has gone on loan to Valencia for a season, without a purchase option for Valencia. Barca have put a 1 billion euro clause on the player.
He will have minutes in Mestalla that Xavi Hernández could not promise him in an overloaded midfield and the player has to grow. Those minutes could give him the hope of being selected for Luis Enrique's Spain in the World Cup later this year.
As per SPORT, 'with the interiors already occupied and overcrowded and with the pivot covered with the untouchable Busquets and the alternative Pjanic, the youth player has had no choice but to find accommodation elsewhere.'
With Gattuso, Nico hopes to have more minutes and establish himself in the First Division. A priori, the azulgrana will return to FC Barcelona once the loan ends on June 30, 2023, the club in which he has been since 2013.
Barcelona also had to free up slots in the first team as they aren't done with signings yet.
