MEMPHIS DEPAY IS READY TO LEAVE BARCELONA

  • The forward assumes that he will not have minutes at Barça and is moving to find a new team before LaLiga starts
  • Club sources confirm that negotitions are underway with Juventus but the player has several other offers

Everything indicates that Memphis Depay will leave Barcelona. Both the club and the player are accelerating the exit because the Dutchman will not have the desired prominence under Xavi next season. With the summer signings, there is an attack overload at Barça. Xavi had already informed the player of limited minutes before travelling on the preseason tour to the U.S.

Despite this, Xavi gave him opportunities like other players on the American tour and Memphis took advantage of them, even scoring a couple of goals. The preseason performances attracted the interest of several clubs. According to Ferran Martinez, sources close to Barca confirm that Juventus is one of the clubs with serious interest, but there are other clubs waiting for him.

The 9 for 'Lewa'
Depay's departure is being accelerated so that he can sign with his new team before LaLiga starts. Once that deal is completed, Robert Lewandowski will don the number '9' shirt. Barca plan to present the Pole next Friday at the Camp Nou, although it's not confirmed yet if the striker will wear the number '9' shirt on presentation day.

Barça, for its part, hopes to get around 20 million euros for Memphis, who has one more year left on his contract. The option of renewing him for a season was earlier considered. There were discussions to send the Dutchman on loan to Juventus for a year with the mandatory purchase option of 20 million. The option was considered to facilitate Juve, as the club from Turin seems to continue with financial balances.

Juventus were interested in Memphis last year when he was released as a free agent at the end of his contract with Olympique de Lyon. This summer, the Turin based club has transferred out Paulo Dybala and Federico Bernardeschi and it seems that they will not be able to count on Alvaro Morata either. Therefore, Depay appears as a good option to reinforce the attack.

Manchester United, OL, Tottenham, Newcastle and PSG have appeared as other options in recent days according to different media sources, although it seems that the most advanced option is that of Juventus.

Where it went wrong for Three Lions against France in the World Cup and is manager Southgate the right man to lead England to the Euros 2024

England manager Gareth Southgate against France in the World Cup 2022 quarter-final Southgate has allowed a new generation of England fans to dream. His accomplishments should not be downplayed or ignored. But England can't quite get over the hill when it counts. As was evident last night, and Italy in the final of the Euros, England struggle to turn that firm grip on the game into chances and goals. Deschamps's men were not better than England's. They just had that vital 1 per cent that carried them through. Winners win football matches. England had a better xG. England (2.59) 1-2 (1.32) France. Sure 2 of the chance were penalties which boosted the xG for England, but then its the tiny margins that can decide a World Cup knockout game. Both sides were taking out their opponents strengths, but then their own strength was not coming into play. England were creating chances, but never ones you thought had to be goals. Kyle Walker was stuck blunting Mbappe, and the same was ...
