The Uruguayan 'killer', who this season has scored 34 goals in the 41 games for Portuguese club, Benfica, would land in Merseyside. This points to the departure of Sadio Mané, 30, to Bayern Munich. Mane, a few days ago publicly stated his intention to leave Anfield this summer. The signing of Nunez, and if the figures reported in English press are confirmed, will become the most expensive signing in the history of The Reds’.

As per ‘The Athletic’, Liverpool made a second offer of 80 million euros, fixed, plus 20 in variables. This amount exceeds the 84.65 million euros Liverpool paid to Southampton in 2018 for Virgil van Dijk – the world’s most expensive center-back signing.

 -----------

Three players from the current Liverpool squad complete for the Top-5 most expensive transfers in the history of The Reds’: Alisson Becker, who was signed for 62.5 million euros from Roma, Naby Keïta, 60 million from RB Leipzig, and the Colombian Luis Díaz, for which Porto received 47 million euros in the January transfer window.

 -----------

For its part, Benfica would quadruple the 24 million euros it spent on signing Darwin Nunez in the summer of 2020 from Almeria.

Kyle Walker was stuck blunting Mbappe, and the same was ...
